This blog focuses on issues and solutions to racism, culture, cultural difference(s), and social injustice(s) for Black and Hispanic students as they develop in families, schools, and communities. RACE (Racism, Achievement, Change, Equity) is a forum for exposing injustices, but also sharing stories, examples, practices, ideas, theories, models, and research for change.

Ethnicity/national origin bias

Hate crimes motivated by the offender’s bias toward a particular ethnicity/national origin were directed at 939 victims. Of these victims:

  • 56.9 percent were targeted because of an anti-Hispanic bias.
  • 43.1 percent were victimized because of a bias against other ethnicities/national origins. (Based on Table 1.)

  1. Black men have been made out to be thugs and villians simple by the color of our skin. We are guilty until proven innocent; most of the time innocence never finds us, only incarceration and murder! But we have an Advocate that has never lost a case waiting for us to ask Him to be our defense our protector…if my people…

  2. Let us start by turning to each other; one brother to another, in love and unite to fight forces that pit us against each other. Divide and conquer has been their device; we know this is so, so let us be wise and stop falling for the guise then find ourselves once again surprised when injustice knocks on our door, stand for injustice no more…no mas, no mas, no mas!!!
